About Life Festival Oświęcim

Life Festival Oswiecim is an idea of Darek Maciborek, a journalist of a broadcasting station - RMF FM, who was born, raised and has always lived in Oświęcim. Darek Maciborek intends to “break the spell” of his home town that is commonly associated solely with the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum.

The main concept of the Festival is to build peaceful relations beyond cultural and state borders where there is no place for anti-Semitism, racism, and other forms of xenophobia. The message of a peace and tolerance comes from the town where during the Second World War (WWII) was the largest Nazi concentration and extermination camp - Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Sting a star of LFO 2013!

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 (10:00)

A concert by legendary British artist, ex-leader and co-founder of a cult band The Police, will be the highlight of the fourth edition of Life Festival Oswiecim. The author of hit songs such as „Roxanne”, „Every Breath You Take” or „Fragile” will appear on stage of MOSiR Stadium on Saturday, June 29.

The concert will be a part of the Back To Bass tour. This will be the first time during the tour when Sting will be playing an open air concert. It is worth mentioning that it is also the first incident that Sting has accepted an invitation to any Polish festival. It is mainly because of LFO’s idea – promoting the tolerance and peaceful co-existence of people representing different races, cultures, religions and nationalities. Sting supports various organizations defending human rights, e.g. Amnesty International – a partner of Life Festival Oswiecim.

During the concert Sting will be accompanied by a five-piece band: Dominic Miller (g), Vinnie Colaiuta (dr), David Sancious (dr), Peter Tickell (vio) and Jo Lawry (voc). They will play songs spanning entire career of Sting, including the days of The Police.

Tickets for the final concert of LFO will be on sale from Thursday, January 24. Fan club presale starts on Tuesday, January 22.
