Piotr Orzechowski, known as Pianohooligan – born in 1990. Polish jazz piano player and composer, one of the most titled young jazz musicians. His most important prize is the First Prize at Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition in 2011, which is the part of the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival. Piotr Orzechowski is the first Pole who won the First Prize on this legendary Swiss festival.
In November 2012 his solo album „Experiment: Penderecki” was released by Decca Classics/Universal Music Polska. The album contains arrangements and compositions inspired by the works of Krzysztof Penderecki.This is the first album of Polish artist singed by the logo of the prestigious London record company. The album went on top of the rankings of the most important albums, released in 2012, according to Bartek Chaciński (Polityka), Marek Dusza (Rzeczpospolita), Piotr Metz, Hirek Wrona, journalists from Polish Blog Spot, Jazzarium and Jazz Forum.
Orzechowski was prized at the most important international festivals not only as a pianist and composer, but as a member of jazz quartet High Definition as well. They won three international competitions: Krokus Jazz in Jelenia Góra, Poland (2011), Jazz Hoeilaart in Belgium (2011), Polish Overwiev of Young Jazz and Blues Bands in Gdynia (2012). The band is a laureate of „Young Jazz Project” programme by „Maestro Foundation”, in which they will tour United States in autumn of 2013.
Number 1 in „Debiut Roku 2011” (the best newcomer in 2011) category according to Jazzarium.pl, The Artist of the Year 2011, voted by the readers of „Kulturalne Odloty” by Gazeta Wyborcza, the laureate of „Kryształki Zwierciadła” by Zwierciadło magazine in 2011. He was nominated to the most important polish prizes: „Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej” (2012), „Gwarancje Kultury” by TVP Kultura (2013), „Fryderyk” (2013 - polish Grammy award) and so on.
He cooperated with such artists like: Adrian Utley (Portishead), Randy Brecker, Skalpel duo, Jacek Kochan, Dorota Miśkiewicz, Adam Bałdych, Marcin Masecki, Paweł Mykietin, Janusz Muniak or Adzik Sendecki.
He was invided with his solo recitals to the most important european festivals: Montreux Jazz Festival, Septembre Musicial Festival (Switzerland), International Festival of Jazz Piano (Chech Republic), Sacrum Profanum (Cracow), Nostalgia (Poznan), Festiwal Starzy i Młodzi – Jazz in Cracow, Festival Jazzowy w Piwnicy Pod Baranami (Cracow), Goodfest (Dębica). Together with High Definition he played at: Gulf Jazz Festival (Kuwait-Bahrain), Getxo Jazz Festival (Spain), Druivenfestival (Belgium), Jazzarium Fest (Warsaw), Letni Festiwal Jazzowy w Pownicy Pod Baranami and others.
