The Mural will be unveiled on 27th of June in the centre of the city Oświęcim. It is designed by Rafał Olbiński – surrealist painter, graphic and designer of posters, known all over the World. The project has been chosen by Darek Maciborek, the Art Director of LFO 2013.
The title of the mural is „Blessed Peace of Nothingness”. As the artist says: „there are many meanings in this project. It should encourage to reflection, which is hard to find these days, because of a lack of time. We are connected with headphones to the headquarters that make a choice for us, we watch what is shown on television and read what is printed in newspapers. I don't like brazen pathos and a visual propaganda that blooms around us – the advertisement, ideas inculcated by force. This pathos forces us to emotions that we do not want to feel. That is why the project of the mural is based on basic aesthetics, the non-aggressive communication. It is the reversion to the simpliest things in life which means the beauty we often avoid, the beauty we have lost when we were chasing millions of other things, the beauty that has stopped to be in fashion but it is one of the basics necessities of a human being. The beauty that has not been created by marketing agencies. This it the reversion to the beauty which surrounds us.”
Olbiński, who lives in New York will come to Poland at the beginning of May. He will be one of the members of the jury of one of the photo contests at the festival.
This is the next World famous artist who will design the mural with the message for LFO. Last two years there were Edward Dwurnik and Andrzej Pągowski who uncovered their works personally for the festival.
